Finding my -ish.

I've said this before. I really enjoy taking photos. However, throughout the course of my life I've ignored this favorite past time thinking I wasn't capable or maybe just maybe I really didn't like it. Some would call that lacking confidence and I couldn't agree more.

My mom enjoyed photography. I have all her leftover cameras from over the years. Antique's or not they hold a special place in my heart. They remind me of her and how she too had the similar quality that I have. The love of photos. I'm not sure what sparked her interest or inspiration and that's okay.

I sometimes wonder if she were still here- would we be working together, side by side? Mother and daughter photography business. How cool would that be?

Anyways...

In Jr. High I was in a yearbook class. My first BIG assignment was going to our local volleyball game to take a few photos. I had a lot of nervous energy and I'm pretty sure I had never been to a volleyball game before this. Also, I was only like 13 or 14 using the school's nice camera. I'm not sure what was more nerve racking, thinking I was going to get whacked by a volleyball or dropping the schools camera.

Surprisingly, it went great and I'm pretty sure I took good enough photos for them to appear in the yearbook. Now were they prize winners? Probably not. I did get an A for effort though. :-)

These photos have nothing to do with the above..

or do they?

I think they do. If it wasn't for the experiences, I don't think I'd be taking photos now.

Good or not, I get an A for effort right??
